Project: Tight End
Kyosho Tomahawk

This is one that was solely inspired by a decal! I found this decal and thought wait! That is just screaming to put on a Tomahawk body!
Well I just so happen to have purchased a basket case from my friend Neill and decided to build a runner. So with that and the decal the idea's just seem to fall into place. Below are the build pics.

This is what I started with. Pretty well completely taken apart and nothing clean yet! So that would be the first order of business. Clean her up! Then after a good bath I started prepping parts for a little experiment I wanted to try! This was either going to work like a charm or total fail completely. I wanted to put a foe red Anodize look on some of the chassis parts. So I began polishing the parts to be foe painted and prepped them for coating.

After the parts were dry I began putting the chassis together using Stainless steel fasteners. The Foe finish was a complete success! Pictures do not do it justice on how well it turned out. It looks like I spent a bunch of money on having these parts anodized. But I have very little money in it. The prep work was the most difficult part of the process. I will do a complete right up on it on my Tip's Tricks and How To Page soon.

Here's some pics of the finished Chassis before I put the shocks on it.

And yes I do plan on driving this one! Maybe! : )

I have been working on the Tomahawk for a couple of days. I just realized the last few things I had done to it I did not photograph for some reason. I put the shocks back together and got them put on, and had to make a few pieces for her at work. The upper radio plate stanchions that came with the buggy were so corroded that they would actually turn to powder when you rubbed on them with your fingers. I got some 7mm aluminum rod and cut me out a set on the lathe at work. I installed them and the lower radio chassis plate. I them trimmed the body to fit. Oh! The front servo saver was suffering from the same problem as the radio plate stanchions. The aluminum tube inside the servo saver was totally wasted. I luckily got a bottom half and inner tube with a parts lot I had purchased recently, so I put servo saver and tie rods on as well.

I still need to trim out the side windows and the rear center for the heat sink. I am planning on making an actual aluminum top for the roof. If it turns out ok I will be making them and selling them in the VRP shop. I need to get a few more rear body clips for the Beetle, Tomahawk, Assaults. This is a reproduction body my friend Oyvind had made. He has since sold the mold to a guy in the UK. This is my only Tomahawk body so I need to get to looking for another one. I've been working on the graphics ( the hot chick ) for the front of this project as well. I have the image scaled out and printed  and ready to put on the body.
I know, I Know! I am putting way to many new items on this project. I must admit that it is becoming much nicer than I originally wanted it to be. So much so that I felt it deserved a few NOS items from the vault. I added a new radio plate and chassis servo plate. As well as a new set of aluminum stand offs. Even though I had already made a new set for this build. I went ahead and polished then painted the resistor heat sink so it could be installed and I could finally get the body trimmed out for it. I also installed a used but in excellent condition Le Mans 240S motor.
I went ahead and cut out the two side windows so the window net could be installed after the body is painted. I left the windshield in it as I did on my other Tomahawk. I also made a windshield paint mask. I have started on the decals for this build and will be painting it soon, I hope.
