Project: Beaver Patrol

Think Wetland Patrol Buggy, and that will paint a clearer picture of what I intend this buggy to be. This was a basket case I bought with a huge parts lot from my friend Brian. I decided in his honor, it needed to be a theme build and sport a sexy half naked female nose art  gracing the body. I tried to strip the other wise perfect used Scorpion body but had little luck removing all of the paint, so I decided it will be painted on the out side. I'll see how that fairs in the coming months. I did a quick mach up on a set my frame rails. I made up a VRP Aluminum Baja Roof Panel and Wing for her. I plan on making a police light bar and some reproduction off road lights. I am very excited to see how this build turns out. I am going to step slightly outside the box in terms of a restoration build on this one. So some of you may hate this build.

I painted the shocks black on this project car. The body will be painted black and cleared as well. I have the graphics almost finished in photo shop so hopefully soon I will post pics of them on here. I got the shocks put together with new seals and good shock collars, then put them on the buggy. I then straightened out the suspension and got the buggy setting right. I have a nice Le Mans 240ST motor I am planning on putting on this one. I think it is a good match for the buggy. I will probably put that on here soon.
I painted the base color black on the body. I will need to color sand the dirt out of the body before applying the clear, so I will let it dry for several days before I do that. I also finished the graphics. I am going to print these out as a decal on decal paper, and apply them over the black paint job. I did a test print out to check scale and fitment on the body. Below are the pics.
I had a chance to clear the body and I decided to add a little flake to the clear to add some flash to base black color. I laid out a nice glossy coat of clear followed by four more nice wet coats. I am going to print out the decals soon on the decal paper and get them ready to go on the body. I have not decided what colors I am going to use on the driver. I was going to paint the helmet white but decided not to. I am going to add some decals to the sides of it though. I also started on the light bar for the roof panel. The nose of the body has some slight orange peel in the clear but the decal will cover that area so I am not going to mess with it. The flake showed up better than I thought it would in the pics.
As you can see I started on the light bar. I cut a piece of clear Plexiglas, and shaped it to look like the bar in previous pics. I need to locate and drill the mounting holes, and then paint the bottom side and the end caps.

I decided to paint the driver figure and print out and install the decals.

Here's a few poser pics to tide you over until the next update! Enjoy!
I couldn't put my finger on it at first. This buggy was just not looking as good as I wanted it to! Then bingo! My good friend Franco figured it out. The side decals were just to large and way to gaudy for the buggy. So I went back and did a total redesign of the side decals and simplified them. I also painted the Good Year logo on the tires. Everything seems to fit now. I am finally happy with how this buggy is starting to look.
