Venom Creeper

Well I started wanting a shaft driving crawler. Especially after getting my wife an Axial Scorpion RTR. So I began looking into them and decided I would give the new Venom Creeper a shot. I bought the kit and put it together. There were a few things I found questionable, and it didn't take long before a few after market goodies came out for it. I bought aluminum diff gear housings from Venom, and as soon as they are released I am getting a set of RC4WD's Axles for this rig! I equipped the rig with a new Novak Rooster Crawler ESC, and an old reliable Integy 55 turn lathe motor. I followed it up with a Hitec 5645MG digital servo, and the servo controlled diff lock controller from Venom. I am not quite happy with the diff lockers performance. It needs a stiffer return spring to get it to work a little better I believe. I am rigging up a driver figure for this ride as well. The drivers head will be servo controlled and turn in the direction the buggy is steering. I painted the body candy red metallic, and detailed the cage black. I am designing decals for this build now. As far as the rest of the buggy's performance, it is leaps and bounds more capable a crawler than the Scorpion RTR. But it, like the scorpion, also needs a strong aftermarket following to make it the best it can be. I am now a firm believer in the Novak Rooster Crawler ESC's. I love the brake hold! Awesome!!!! This is going to be a fun truck! Uh, I mean Buggy!......Crawler!

Man the light in my kitchen when I took these pics was horrible! Makes all the red on the truck look pink! I assure you it is not PINK! These pics do not do the color justice. It is a really cool deep candy red! I'll get better pics soon I promise!

I finished up the graphics for the decals as you can see in the pics. I also decided this rig needed a driver. I bought a driver set for Tamiya Grasshopper and began making him fit the Creeper. I built a cage and dash panel out of styrene plastice tubing and sheets. I also made it fasten to the battery hold down so it could be easily removed. There are pics of it below as well as a video.

As you can see I have started detail painting the driver figure. I have painted the helmet and will detail it as you will see in the pics below.
Well the driver figure is finished, as is this build! Except for some aftermarket goodies on down the line, like a dig unit and RC4WD CVX axles, the build is done. I hope this thing is as fun as it looks. I'll get some final pics of her befor the thrashing begins. Oh! Clock the next pic to see the video of the driver figure in action!
