Well I started like usual, with a pile of parts. And not all the parts I needed either. I was missing frame rails so I made a set. My Friend Bill machine me down a pair of aluminum pieces to the correct size and I drilled and formed them in my fixtures. So now that the frame rails are made I can get to work building and detailing the chassis. I think this build is going to need a different set of wheels than the original Scorpion Centerline wheels.

I began mocking the chassis up making sure I had all necessary screws and parts to complete the build. I also wanted to determine what was going to be what color, before I got started coating the parts.

As you can see from the pics this build is getting an NOS body. The radio tub is a bit rough but it is going to be painted black anyway. I mocked the chassis up with some used parts, but I have NOS parts that will be going on it. The entire chassis will be completely new.

I disassembled the chassis and polished all the aluminum pieces. I then coated the part with a yellow dye and baked the color on until it was a high gloss. I will be coating the shock bodies this way as well. All the cast parts will be coated gloss black and so will the roll bar. I have not yet decided what color I will coat the roof panel. The next picture doesn't do the coating justice. I had the camera set up all wrong for the lighting. The coating actually looks like gold anodizing.

I had a very good set of Advance/Assault wheels and decided the yellow would go good with the chassis. I pulled a set of NOS tires from my parts bin and stretched the new rubber over the wheels.

I painted all the suspension components and the gear box. Then began assembling the chassis components. While assembling the chassis I polished and coated the shock bodies. After they dried I assembled the shocks and installed them on the chassis. I then primered the radio tub and painted the roll bar black, then mached up the body on the chassis.

I coated the roof top panel and assembled the driver guard. I then snapped it in place. I next fit a Turbo Scorpion wing mount and one of my aluminum wings. I realized I had made a few dozen of these wings but had actually built only one finished buggy with one on it. This build will have an Aluminum wing on it. I only have one aluminum wing left after this one and It is going to a friend of mine. I plan on coating the wings main body gold, and the end caps black. Or maybe vice versa.

I am going to use an NOS AYK 360 Gold motor in this build. I am also going to make a motor decal for it so the original 360 gold decal will be coming off. I will be coating the wing shortly I hope, and then I need to finish the decals and begin planning the body paint scheme. I have several little accessories I plan on adding to this build. But you wont see them until I finish them.
