Project RocBronc

This is my son Matt's Rock Crawler project. We started with an aluminum ladder bar style chassis I made about 4 years ago. It is super strong and fairly light weight. We added a set of Clodbuster axles with locked diff's, my 69er steering kits front and rear, Longstroker style upper link mounts, 55 turn Integy lathe motors, and a set of Proline tires,  and HPI wheels. We then added a set of piggy back coil over shocks, and a four link set up on each axle. Two SC-1 JR Speed controls round out the electronics. The body is an HPI Bronco body, and the chassis is getting a slew of attachments for the radio gear, body mounts, and battery. All in all it should make for a decent little rig for an eight year old.
I soldered the wire leads on to the motors and got them mounted. I had to make some pinion covers as well. I cut them from Delrin and got them mounted as well. I mached up the speed controls and tested the motors. I think I'm going to have to get Matt a 4 channel radio for this project. I already know the 2 channel unit is not going to work.

I made the upper radio plate out of Delrin and got it in place then installed all the electronics. I had to modify the rear steering set up so it would work with the two servos tied together on the two channel radio. I began making the lower battery tray as well.
As you can see above I painted the Bronco Body. I also added a set of stock Clod Wheels. I have a nice set of rims I am going to put on this but I need to buy tires for them first. Matt wanted to try his hand at using a stick radio, so I rewired the truck for use on one of my DX6i's and let him use it that way!  It climes o.k, but could use a lower center of gravity for more stability.
