Wayne's Fiat
This cars history is spectacular, and patriotic. Wayne Dobos is a Vietnam Vet. While in the middle of his tour of  duty in the military, around 1969,  Wayne found this Fiat coupe in a dump in Germany while stationed there . He loaded the Fiat  onto a Deuce and a 1/2 and brought the car home, back to the United States before being sent to Vietnam. Wayne found another Fiat coupe for sale near Union Pennsylvania that he purchased in 1976. This one was an old Altered Drag race car complete with spindle mount 12 spoke wheels on a straight axle front end.  Wayne would use the front  half of the Germany  car , from the cowl forward, and the rear half of the Drag car to make one rock solid Fiat Topolino body . Wayne made his own floor pans and firewall for the car and the chassis was a collaboration with Street Rod Engineering and Wayne himself. Wayne has fitted a throttle body fuel injection unit from a 454 cu. in. truck engine atop his 500 cu. in. Cadillac engine. Yes I said a 500 cu. in. caddy engine!  Wayne also fabed up his own headers for the little Topolino.  It has been an honor and a privilege not only to render the car for Wayne but to also share fabrication time on it with chief metal man Scott Stickly at Don's Hot Rods. Wayne's  chassis was set up with a much wider track width than the stock Fiat came with, so the stock fenders would not work. The fenders needed over 12 inches added to there center to widen them to cover the wheels. Scott actually guided me through the process of making the extensions for the fenders. From layout, to forming on the English wheel, to welding them in, Scott showed me and let me do the work . It was  an awesome an experience. After welding them up and grinding the welds Scott took it from there to metal finish them off. Using the English wheel and the planishing hammer he painstakingly finished off each fender until they appeared to have been made that way to begin with. Look at the pics below to the work done so far on the car.
